The depressing barren emptiness of the Logan Triangle in North Philadelphia.
For those unfamiliar with the story of the Logan Triangle, at the beginning of the 20th Century North Philly was growing rapidly and homes were springing up all over the place. The Wingohocking Creek stood in the way of development and needed to be filled in. The city, looking to cut corners and cost used ashes instead of standard river fill to fill in the creek. The mistake proved costly as people who lived in this area had shaky foundations and would end up being relocated.
The end result is an all but completely abandoned area of North Philadelphia (except for Dr Turner’s medical practice, which you can read about here).
